Cormac McCarthy is known for his Southern Gothic novels that feature dark violence, dense prose, and stylistic complexity. In approaching designing covers for his famous Border Trilogy, I sought to capture the delicate balance of the American frontier mythos with the gritty reality of the early American west. Each cover features an icon from its respective book rendered in an etched style but likened to marble sculpture in its context. This application blurs the lines between the ephemeral and monumental and reflects the tone of the novels.
